News values and regulations

Sensationalism

Sensationalism-  the portrayal of stories in a way that is intended to provoke public interest or excitement, at the expense of accuracy. Sensationalism + content = audiences = sales Purpose : getting an audience to subscribe How : using images, colours, and text Why : tricking audiences for sales, political bias/ ideology 

Linguistic conventions

Restricted code - is the language used by friends and family, informal, basic, and sometimes slang.
